On February 23, 2011, Allen Lew Rose was killed on the job. As a tow truck driver, Allen was in the process of removing an illegally-parked car when the owner, Detra Farries, got into her vehicle and drove away. The tow cable attached to Detra’s car caught Allen’s legs and dragged him for over a mile. During Detra’s trial, the police officer who followed the trail of blood to find Allen’s body said, “I can still smell his flesh burning \u2014 his clothes burning.” Allen was still alive when his feet slipped out of his work boots and he slid to a stop in the street. Several bystanders came to his aid, but the 35-year-old father of two passed away en route to the hospital.<\/p>\n
