On March 8, 2005, Laura Kate Winterbottom was attacked in her car. Gerald Montgomery raped the 31-year-old and beat her to death in what authorities described as a “random act.” Laura’s mother blamed the assault on the “sense of entitlement” that “many men” have, adding that “as parents we [need] to teach our sons, our male children to be more respectful toward women.”<\/p>\n
