On March 23, 2017, Deborah Camp Liles was killed in her home. Adam Lawson broke in and beat the 62-year-old mother of five to death with a frying pan and a golf club before stealing her car, along with many valuables from inside the house. Deborah’s mangled remains were found by her husband of 41 years, whom she had known since childhood. He said, “I allowed myself the luxury of believing maybe she didn’t realize what was happening or that she was taken out quickly,” but according to the medical examiner, “that apparently is not the case.”
