On August 31, 2015, Thomas Melvin Durand was working at his business when he was killed. Kendrick Gregory, 21 years old, had already shot another man that day before he came to Tom’s pawn shop, murdered him, and stole his handgun. After leaving, Kendrick raped a 15-year-old girl. Tom was survived by his wife and three daughters.
