On April 6, 2017, Betsy Baker Raines was shot by a former coworker. Shurnue Bratton, a secretary at the same office as Betsy, had been fired and accused of writing herself a large check from her employer’s account. The next month, Shurnue returned and shot Betsy in the back of the head, “ransacked” the office, and got away with Betsy’s car and other belongings. Shurnue was apprehended less than three hours later, around the same time her victim was pronounced dead.
